My clothes are still damp with sweat. My long blonde hair is like a bird’s nest around my head, from the amount of tossing and turning I did last night, and I can only imagine how my face must look. I probably have makeup everywhere it shouldn’t be, that’s if there’s any left.
The door swings open, revealing a freshly showered Reid Harris.
His hair is still damp, his shirt clinging to his torso, giving me almost as good a view as when he was shirtless the last time he graced me with his presence. And he smells insane.
Damn him.
Running my eyes down his dark-fitted, ripped jeans, I go right down to his booted feet before making my way back up. Well, at least one of us looks presentable this morning.
And from the satisfied yet terrifying smirk I find playing on his lips when I finally get back up to his face, I think he’s happy with his findings too. Only for a very different reason.

OhMyGodOhMyGodOhMyGod, that ending! I need book two NOW!!! This was my initial reaction when I finished MERCILESS, and that's still my reaction a week later because WOW! This book had me hooked pretty quickly and never let go and this is a long book, so at no point did I want to put it down. Of course, there were times I had to, but believe me, if I could have just stayed in and read this book all day, I would have.
There is so much going on in this book, but the most important thing to know is that Reid and JD are holding Alana captive and are trying to get information out of her about Kane. Kane is from a different series and has his own duet, but you do not have to read it to follow this story. Alana's husband, Maverick, is worried and trying to find her. All three men belong to the Harrow Creek Hawks. It's like a Mafia or Gang; they are a close-knit group of guys that listen to one leader who controls everything. Mav will do anything for Alana because he knows the horrors she's been through, but as her time goes on as a prisoner of Reid and JD's they slowly start to piece together events of her past and aren't happy about any of it but to what lengths are they willing to go for her? Only time will tell.
This is a DARK Why Choose Romance, and I would only recommend it to Adult Readers who enjoy their reads on the DARKER SIDE.
