This book is quite different from what I expected from the quietest of the McGloughlin brothers, but it explains the almost haunted look he would sometimes have when his brothers would look at him in their books. I often go into books blind, especially if it's from an author that I read frequently and know I will enjoy whatever is inside, as I had with this one, so without reading the blurb, I didn't realize that Seamus was such a playboy and the woman he was going to fall for was a lawyer looking to take down his boss and that she is older than him. First, I love me a good age gap, and second, quiet Seamus a Playboy? Well, good looks do run in the family, but he definitely keeps his private life private, unlike some of his brothers. 😉
There are too many ways I could give spoilers here, and I won't, because there's no fun in that. I will say that Seamus and Marcella have great chemistry together. I love the way he helps her overcome her insecurities about her body and makes her feel like the most beautiful woman with just one look. I understood Marcella's motivation and determination to pursue Seamus's boss and Mentor, and I found myself shedding tears throughout the story, as it was at times emotionally charged.
Wistful Whispers is the Third book in the Charming Irish Series, and while it can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading this series in the order they are released. The stories do overlap, so you will get different perspectives at various times and events, such as their big family dinners, which will provide a better insight into what was happening at that time. Like with me, and the haunted or distant look in Seamus' eyes, I know what was happening at that time when it was mentioned in a previous book.
I recommend this book to readers who enjoy SPICY Contemporary Romance, Age Gap Romance, Secret Romances, Forced Proximity Romances, Curvy Women Romance, or Romances with a Virgin MC.
