Kylie (The Walkers of Coyote Ridge Book 19) by Nicole Edwards ~ Book Review

An emotional, pulse-pounding story of love, resilience, and the unbreakable bonds of family, Kylie is a gripping tale of survival, second chances, and the enduring power of coming home.

Kylie Matthews-Walker

One year, eight months, and twenty-six days ago, I died.

At least, that's what everyone believes.

Travis and Gage buried an empty coffin. My children mourned the mother they lost. And while the world moved on without me, I remained trapped in a living nightmare.

Held captive by a ruthless man seeking revenge, I’ve spent nearly two years isolated from the family I love, surviving on little more than determination and the hope that one day I’ll find my way home. Every birthday missed, every holiday lost, every moment stolen from my children becomes another reason to keep fighting.

But hope is a dangerous thing.

As starvation and dehydration push me to the brink of death, fate intervenes in the most unexpected way. Suddenly, I'm safe, but still not home. Now, I must decide whether to risk everything for a chance to reclaim my life or remain hidden in the shadows where my captor can't use my family against me.

Before I can choose my path, it is chosen for me.

As familiar voices call my name and long-buried dreams collide with reality, I am forced to confront a truth I never expected: Surviving captivity may have been the easy part. Finding my way back to the life I lost could prove far more difficult.

If you read my review of Alibi, you know that I was devastated by the events that occurred in that book. It was the first book that Nicole Edwards had written that I had to actually put down and walk away from to get my emotions under control; my heart was ripped out and stomped on. Yes, by the end of the book there was hope again, but it wasn't until this book, Kylie, was in my hands, five years later, that it was repaired. I will say Alibi was and is the most heartbreaking book I've ever read, and now Kylie is right behind it.

Kylie was crushed by a car, and her family was told she succumbed to her injuries and died, but now, one year, eight months, and twenty-six days later, she is rescued from a crazed man out for revenge, and we find out what Kylie has been through during that time, and it's not an easy read. But what was even harder was watching Kylie find her footing back in a life that was once hers, before they buried her and learned how to get through the days without her.

Grab those tissues because you will definitely be using them, and lots of them. I am not going to go into details about all the different ways you'll be needing them; just make sure the box is pretty full before you dive in, because the gut punch starts in the first chapter..

I recommend this book to readers who have read ALIBI or the BRANTLEY WALKER: OFF THE BOOKS SERIES, readers who enjoy Menage Romances, MMF Romances, Romantic Suspense, Large Family Romances, Second Chances, or Small Town Romances.

Happy Reading!!!

About the Author:

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Nicole Edwards spends her days stringing words together to make complete sentences. Sometimes not. Her best friend is coffee, and she has a love/hate relationship with sarcasm. She’s been accused of having a filthy imagination, which she admits is true.

Nicole lives in the suburbs of Austin, Texas. She proudly claims one husband, three grown children, and two bosses (better known as the dogs). When she isn’t writing, watching football or hockey, or keeping her bosses happy, you can probably find her with a book in hand.

Behind every book is a real person… one who survives on coffee, gets entirely too attached to fictional characters, and somehow convinced herself that writing romance for a living counted as a perfectly reasonable career choice.
