Mountain Boss (Mountain Men #1) by S.J. Tilly ~ Book Review

When the flannel-wearing mountain man is your boss... your enemy... and more than a little obsessed with you.

Courtney

I’m just so exhausted—always living on the edge of desperation, one paycheck away from ruin.
But this new job…
It could be the fresh start I need.
It could change everything.
The contract is only for three months, but if I keep my head down, work hard, and prove myself, maybe I could stay longer.
Maybe I could make Black Mountain Lodge my home.
As I pull down the gravel drive, surrounded by the forest and mountains and bright blue skies, I feel something I haven’t felt in a while.
I feel hope.

Sterling

My new employee is late. I’m already in a bad mood about having to train him, still salty about my old guy retiring on me.
But while I’m waiting, a woman pulls up my drive.
A woman straight from my damn dreams.
Curvy and pretty, looking at me with wide eyes framed with sooty lashes.
And suddenly, I’m no longer thinking about my late employee.
But then she opens her mouth and asks for me, introducing herself as Courtney, my new hire.
Courtney. Not Court, like the application said.
And I realize there’s been a mistake.
I can’t have this woman working here. Living on my property. Distracting me. I mean, my staff.
No. She can’t work for me. End of story.
Except she won’t leave. She even threatens to sue me.
Fine. If she won’t let me fire her before she even starts, then I’ll just have to make her leave on her own.

This is my first book by S. J. Tilly, but it won’t be my last. I have no idea why it took me this long to read one of her books, but I’m glad I finally did. I love her writing style: short chapters that get straight to the point, with absolutely no unnecessary filler or repetition.

The story starts with Courtney showing up at Black Mountain Lodge prepared to begin her temporary job as a maintenance worker. When she meets the owner, Sterling Black, he is ready to send her packing because he was expecting a guy named Court, not a curvy woman who is a huge distraction. However, she needs this job, so she isn't going to let him scare her away.

This is a long book, over five hundred pages and about two hundred chapters (some are only one page long), so when I say this is a slow burn, believe me. It takes a while for them to get to the point where they are doing things to one another that they had only previously been thinking about. But once they do get there, the hotness factor jumps to scorching.

I recommend this book to readers who enjoy SPICY Contemporary Romances, Age Gap Romances, Workplace Romances, Curvy Girl Romances, Forced Proximity Romances, or Small-Town Romances.

Happy Reading!!!

**I have voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book for my Blog, Nadine's Obsessed with Books**

S.J. Tilly lives in Minnesota with her husband and their herd of boxers. She spends an unhealthy amount of time with her face buried in books, reading and writing. If she’s not nose deep in text or harassing her dogs, she’s probably playing with her plants, pretending she knows how to garden.
