EXCERPT

“What do you want, Ana?”

Her lips press together. “Not to be protected. And too much, apparently. We’ve been in one place too long. We need to go. Do you understand?”

I want to know what “too much” means, but damn it, she’s not wrong. We can’t hang out on the street, not if we want to live through the night. “We’re not done with this conversation.”

“You might not be, but I am.” She tries to step out of my grip.

I hold her to me, cup her face, and kiss her hard and fast. “I’m not. I’m not done with anything to do with you. Not now and not ever.”

“Okay, that statement contradicts the past two years and makes me angry.” She tries to knee me, and I catch her leg. Undeterred, she adds, “And I’m not done with this conversation either.”

My lips curving with how easily I drew her into battle, how easily I’ve always drawn her into battle. It feels like us and I do fucking love us. I want to push her harder. I want to kiss her harder. Instead, I release her and for just a beat we stare at each other, the air ignited with conflict. She turns on her heels and starts walking. I let her go, but not too far. I fall into step beside her. Not behind her. Not in front of her. Beside her, where I forgot to stand.

I won’t forget again.

As for her version of too much, there’s no such thing, not where Ana is concerned.

If she wants to test me on that, I’m along for the ride.

If she wants to test me on that while naked, even better.

UGGHH I am so conflicted with rating this book. I liked it but I wanted more, and I think I expected more because of who the author is, she has always given me what I needed in a book but this one I felt was more focused on the sex scenes then on the actual suspense part of the book, heck it was even more than Luke and Ana working their way back to getting together again. Yes that does happen but it's like they use sex as a way of communicating instead of actually communicating...does that make sense? I know I am in the minority with this view and that is okay because like I said I love this author's books I just wanted more, and a LOT of people were happy with what they got and I'm fine with my confliction because I know I will get what I want in the next book...answers to sooo many questions.

In this second book of Lucifer's Trilogy we pick up right where book one left off, so make sure you read that one first, with Ana's partner being killed and she and Luke on the run again and trying to figure out who the bad guys are. There are a few surprises in this book and only one took me by surprise and it wasn't the cliffhanger ending, it was what was with the info Darius left for Ana.

This trilogy needs to be read in order because the first two books end with cliffhangers and you will be lost if you just start with this book.

I would recommend this series to anyone that enjoys STEAMY Romantic Suspense reads or Second Chance at Love Romances.

Happy Reading!!!
