Something Like Love (Against All Odds: The St. James Family #2) by Claudia Y. Burgoa ~ Book Review

Release Date: April 12

USA TODAY Bestselling Author Claudia Burgoa pens a fun and sexy romantic comedy where playing pretend turns to playing for keeps…

We have to pretend that what we have is something like love…

I’m down on my luck.

Scratch that. This is the worst week of my life.

Enter the last person I want to deal with: Burke St. James.

He’s wealthy.

He’s a womanizer.

And a big liar.

And it turns out we need each other.

Burke needs a fiancΓ©e to seal the deal of a lifetime. I need help or my business is going belly-up. So, Burke very non-romantically asks me to marry him. Well, he asks me to be fake engaged to him, anyway.

I’ll attend a few dinners, pretend I’m in love, and meet the family.

In exchange, he’ll invest in my company and help me launch it off the ground.

All is easy, except his kisses feel more real than they should.

And the sex…damn, we’re not supposed to have sex.

It’s all for show…right?

Did I mention he’s a really good liar?

Pretending not to fall in love is more complicated than I thought.

SOMETHING LIKE LOVE is Burke St. James and Chloe Lafferty's story, it's one of hope, second chances, and new beginnings.

Chloe's life is on a major down-slide and she's hitting rock bottom, in just one week she's gone from having almost everything to having nothing in a blink of an eye. And it has nothing to do with any fault of her own other than trusting the wrong person. As if that wasn't bad enough she had to go and talk to the one person she dislikes to find out what was going on...Burke St. James.

I really like the misunderstood Burke, and once Chloe got to know the real Burke and not the lies that she was fed about him she saw what a great guy he really was.

Both Burke and Chloe have been scammed by the same person they each trusted now they have to work together to get what they each need and if them playing fake finance's can lead to some fun in and out of the bedroom that's a plus right. Well, that's what they thought they could do without feelings getting involved and you know how that always goes. LOL

This was a fun steamy read that will have you rooting for the two of them right from the beginning. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys the Fake Relationship Trope, Steamy New Adult Contemporary Romances, or Large Family Romances.

Happy Reading!!!

  1. Being an Indie author means you need to be a multi-tasker. I write my books and initially edited them also. I learnt to design decent covers and also some marketing basics. But, gathering reviews was very time consuming and draining. I was referred to https://usbookreviews.com by a friend and my life became easy. They help me with gathering reviews for my book and also a boost to my marketing efforts with their complimentary ebook promotion. I am slowly building an audience who likes to read my books and feel like I made the right decision becoming an Indie author.
