From bestselling author, Dr. Rebecca Sharp, comes a brand-new, sexy and thrilling standalone romantic suspense...

Six years ago, in order to save her own life, Addison Williams had to die.

Returning home, she started over and never looked back. Until now. After a local interview about her business goes viral, bad things start happening. So, she turns to the only man she trusts—the man who helped fake her death.

Ace Covington knows the situation is serious when independent Addy returns to the doorstep of Covington Security with a plea for help. But it doesn’t take long for her stubborn streak to shine through.

Addy insists on being part of the investigation. Ace knows it’s too dangerous for her to get involved. A testy compromise results in a roommate situation where the only thing they can’t argue over is the attraction burning between them.

When the demons from Addy’s past come looking for the woman who cheated death, Ace will risk everything to protect her and prove her betrayed heart is always safe with him.

I was pulled in from the very first page, and it never let me go. I have been waiting for Addy and Ace to come together for a while. If you have read any of the Carmel Cove Series you will recognize both of them, Addy is Eve's sister, Eve's HEA was in Besotted, and Ace is one of the owners of Covington Security, who have popped up in each of the books so far. You could tell that there was an attraction between the two and that something had happened to Addy but it was all a mystery until now. This was the perfect way to start the Covington Security Series.

Addy's story is one that will break your heart but I promise it will be put back together again because Ace is just the person to do it. Ace has been looking out for Addy for six years and now that she's in danger his protective streak only gets more intense. If you enjoy an Alpha male Ace will check all of your boxes, he's former military - Navy Seal, he is head of a private security firm, and he is super protective of those he cares about...what more can you want? Oh yeah, he takes his Scandinavian heritage to heart with his Viking hair cut, and tattoos....YUM!

I love the friends-to-lovers aspect of this story but what I love even more was the way this overprotective Alpha let his Miss Independent come to terms with certain things. He knew that she needed to be able to do things for herself but he made sure they were done safely for years, until someone was after her and then all bets were off and he'd do anything to make sure nothing happened to her again.

This story as I said pulled me in right away, it was not an easy first few pages to read but they set the tone of the story and shed a lot of light on who Addy was now. There is so much I want to tell you about what had happened to her but I don't put spoilers in my reviews so just know that she was Betrayed in the worst way and she has been trying to atone for the horror she had unknowingly aided. I realize that sounds a bit cryptic but again no spoilers, and honestly I don't believe she didn't have anything to atone for but she believed she did. You read the book and tell me what you think.

This book can be read as a standalone, you do not have to have read any of the other series in order to enjoy this book. I would highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys Romantic Suspense or Friends-to-Lovers Romances.

Happy Reading!!!

**I have voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book for my Blog, Nadine's Obsessed with Books**
