Gimme Some Sugar
(Sex and Sweet Tea, Book #5)
by Juliette Poe
Release Date: June 11, 2019

Synopsis:

Larkin Mancinkus prides herself on making the town of Whynot, North Carolina just a little sweeter. As owner of Sweet Cakes Bakery, Larkin gets all the town gossip – the sugar, the spice, and the everything not so nice. So when she finds herself on the tip of everyone’s tongue thanks to an encounter with a mysterious and handsome stranger, she learns the true meaning of ‘if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Deacon Locke has spent his life traveling the world with no particular destination in mind. But when he rolls into Whynot on his Harley, he just knows there is something different about this town. What he doesn’t know is that out of all the places he’s traveled and all the people he’s met, the gorgeous bakery owner might just entice him to put down some solid roots.

Come on down to see what’s cookin’ between Larkin and Deacon!

I had been looking forward to this book for a while and dreading it at the same time, strange I know but that is because it is the last book in the Sex and Sweet Tea Series and I am truly going to miss the Mancinkus family.

Juliette Poe did a wonderful job with each of the books by not only grabbing my attention but by creating characters I truly cared about and wanted to continually see them grow not only in each of their own HEAs but as the family unit as well. For me Larkin hit a soft spot in my heart, I think it's because she, in some ways, reminded me of my self...she works hard then comes home to curl up with a good book! One tiny part of this story, which some may consider a spoiler but I just can't help myself because it was so darn funny, is when Larkin finds herself curious about a pair of handcuffs and lets just say things didn't go as she had hoped. ;) I am talking laugh out loud funny!

Now Deacon, man oh man, he can get most girls motor running. He gives off that bad boy biker vibe but that isn't who he is at all. We met Deacon briefly when he passed through town looking for lodging but that was before Millie's bed and breakfast was open so Larkin had given him directions to another town where he would be able to stay. Since that encounter this nomad hadn't been able to get Larkin out of his mind so he finds himself rumbling through town again and now staying at the now opened B&B.

The chemistry between Larkin and Deacon was great but since this is a Juliette Poe book and not a Sawyer Bennett book the sexy times were left off the pages and left to your imagination....I have to admit I'd love to see how Sawyer would tackle this couple.

If you are a fan of Sawyer Bennett's and haven't read her sweeter side as Juliette Poe yet, what are you waiting for? Each of the books in the Sex and Sweet Tea series can be read as a standalone but since it surrounds a family I would highly suggest you start with book #1 Ain't He Precious which is currently free.

Happy Reading!!!
