Magnolia Blooms Series by Emily A. Myers ~ Duet Review

Love blooms in Magnolia. The 𝘔𝘢𝘨𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘢 𝘉𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘮𝘴 duet features the Calhoun siblings and the themes of reconnecting with oneself, one's hometown, and finding love after tragedy. Both Books are Available Now and are enrolled in Kindle Unlimited!

"You can feel it in the silence--when you're loved, when you're home."

Welcome to Magnolia, Louisiana, a small town desperate for a fresh start after tragedy. Newcomer, April has made it her life's work bringing old, abandoned properties back to beauty. It was a dream first instilled in her by her father after they lost their home in a hurricane. Since then, April has lost much more—both her parents and her hearing. April's life has been quiet for far too long. The only comfort she finds is in her work. That is, until she meets the farmer next door, Emmett Calhoun.

Emmett is driven by two things—responsibility to his family and a desire to never become his father. Reluctant to allow himself a taste of something new, Emmett avoids helping April with the renovation until he simply can't. When he finally agrees to help, more than the historic inn gets a fresh start.

April hears Emmett, sees him, more than anyone else ever has. Emmett learns and loves April in a way no one else has ever been willing to. Together, they find the silence isn't so quiet. Together, they tear down the walls guarding their hearts and open their minds to new possibilities for the future—to new dreams, to new love. And the town of Magnolia enters a new chapter of togetherness.

deaf/ mute, virgin FMC, protective farmer next door MC, close proximity, slow burn turned spicy, found family, small town, healing love story

attempted SA, death of a parent (referenced), death of a lover (referenced), violence, PTSD, alcoholism (not MCs)

This novel is a complete standalone.

Anywhere can be your home, but not just anyone.

Emerson Calhoun is an invisible wallflower, mostly because she learned it’s safer not to draw attention. With her father’s alcohol-induced anger and violent outbursts, attention is dangerous in her house. The thing is, she’s never been invisible to star baseball player, Noah Boone.

Growing up in the same small town, Noah has admired Emerson from afar since they were little kids. With senior year underway, their two very different worlds collide, and their love story blooms. The young couple faces lessons in love and trust as Noah sees through the smile Emerson forces herself to wear. But just as they are ready for a happily ever after post-graduation, tragedy strikes.

You Can Always Come Home is a second-chance romance full of heart-racing tension, heartwarming moments of love, and a reconciliation ten years in the making.

This is a complete standalone featuring Emerson and Noah's young love story and their later-in-life reconciliation.

A list of Trigger Warnings is provided inside the book. Most noted are DV / abuse, attempted SA, death (of parent/ child), suicidal thoughts, and struggles with self-harm (not depicted but referenced). Please read mindfully. This book is intended for mature audiences.

Beautifully written, this story evokes all the feels and leaves you with a warm feeling in your heart. I look forward to reading more of Emily A. Myers' Magnolia Blooms Small Town Romance Series, which is a complete 180 from her Blood and Bourbon Mafia Series.

April Scott and Emmett Calhoun's story will have you needing some tissues—not the entire box—but it's best to have it handy just in case. April is in Magnolia Springs, working on an old house to restore it to its former glory, though not everyone is happy about it; heck, some people have forgotten the house is still there. April had done jobs like this with her father, but with his recent passing, she is taking this project on by herself.

Emmet is back in Magnolia Springs, helping his sister and mother out after a series of events had his sister reach out to him, asking him to return home. Emmet had left home several years ago but would do anything to help his sister and mother, so he's back helping tend to the farm when a trip into town changes the course of his life.

Emmet and April's story touches on some sensitive subjects, so I highly recommend reading the last part of the blurb, where the author listed all the CW/TW.

I listened to the audiobook version of this story and have to say that Elisabeth Knight and Finnley Cole did an excellent job of bringing Emmet and April to life.

I recommend this book to readers who enjoy Contemporary Romances with Darker themes, Slow Burn turned Spicy Romances, Small Town Romances, or Found Family Romances.

Happy Reading!!!

I haven't cried this much reading a book in a LONG time. I loved Noah and Emerson's second-chance love story. I suggest having a full box of tissues within arm's reach before opening this book.

Okay, so not only did I cry throughout most of this book, but every time I sit down to write my review, I start over again. I kid you not, this is the third time I have started, and this is how far I have gotten. Emerson Calhoun and Noah Boone's story begins when they are seniors in high school, and she is asked to tutor him to help him raise his grades. He's the star pitcher for their HS baseball team, and she's the one who hides in the shadows so no one pays her any mind — and they won't ask her any questions about her home life.

Noah has been in love with Emerson ever since she handed him a flower on the playground when he was seven. He sees her in school every day and at church every Sunday, but he never got up the nerve to ask her out. There was only one person who knew how he felt: his best friend, Evan. Now that Emerson has begun tutoring Noah and they are spending more time together, a relationship develops, and over time, he learns things she's been hiding from everyone for years. Then the unthinkable happens, and Noah can't cope, so he leaves Magnolia Springs and Emerson to figure things out and, after a bit, joins the military. Well, boys and girls, this is where their second chance comes into play because he's been gone for almost ten years.

I cried for about 90% of the first part of their relationship. Now that we're moving into the second-chance stage, I don't cry as much, but in the first part, the waterworks flow freely for a while, then a bit later, tears of happiness come. So keep those tissues close.

Emerson hasn't had it easy since Noah left, and if you thought things would get easier once she was an adult, you would be wrong. If she didn't have bad luck, she'd have no luck at all. I will say that once Emerson and Noah reunited, I was thrilled; they were so good for one another, and I wish we had more of their later years in life story, but the author did a great job of giving us a peek into their life together years down the line.

The author wrote a beautiful Dear Reader letter at the end of this book explaining her journey with writing and her life and where they are both heading. I have loved where she has taken us, and I look forward to continuing the journey and seeing where she takes us next.

I recommend this book to readers who enjoy Darker Contemporary Romances, Second Chance at First Love Romances, Small Town Romances, He Falls First Romances, Found Family Romances, or Secret Dating Romances.

Happy Reading!!!

The duet does not have to be read in order, in fact each book can be read as a standalone. I recommend reading both books because I loved them and think you will too. They are both available in paperback or with the Kindle Unlimited Subscription, and You Can Feel It In The Silence is available in audio. No matter how you choose to read it, I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.

Happy Reading or Listening!!!
