I love when Carrie Ann gives us these prequels to tie us over until we can get our hands on the first book of a new series. CARELESS is just the book to whet your appetite for the Ashford Creek Series. In this prequel, we meet the Ashford Family as well as Felicity Carter and her brother Ruin.

This was a great intro to the series; it can be read in just a couple of hours, and you'll get a sense of what is to come.

I enjoyed getting a peek into Felicity Carter and Callum Ashford's story, which is releasing on January 5, 2026. There is an age gap —one of my favorite tropes —about 12ish years, and we know that Callum is Felicity's brother's best friend, but we learn so much more about him and a bit about Felicity, too. I'm curious about how things will progress in LEGACY, and in less than two months, I'll have my answers. 

I recommend this book to readers who enjoy Contemporary Romances, Age Gap Romances, Brother's Best Friend Romances, or Small Town Romances.
