Marcelo and Mirabella's story starts off rocky. Well, what would you call it if you thought your Fiance was dead and suddenly he showed up at the school you were attending out of the blue like nothing happened? You see Marcelo and Mirabella were promised to one another in an arraigned marriage by their fathers, the heads of the mafia on the East Coast; Marcelo is from the North East, and Mirabella is from the South, but before they could tie the knot a car explosion supposedly took Marcelo's and his fathers lives. But now he's back to find out who set off the bomb that killed his father and to claim his bride-to-be.

Mirabella hated the fact that she was promised to Marcelo; she didn't want to marry into another Mafia Family she wanted to work for her father, but since she is a woman, there is no place for her in the family business, a fact that she hated. When Marcelo was killed, she took the opportunity to convince her father to allow her to attend Sicuro Academy for children of families like hers to learn the things they will need to succeed in their business; only once she is there, things don't go the way she thought they would.

I enjoyed learning more about Marcelo, Mirabella, and many side characters. I look forward to the next book in the series, CORRUPTING THE INNOCENT, about Mirabella's brother Antonio and her best friend Sofia.
