Some of you may know that 2025 was a stressful year for me. I became a caregiver to my mom, and it was very scary there for a while, not knowing if she would recover, but thankfully, in July, all of her doctors were giving her either 6-month or 1-year follow-up appointments, and she was cleared to return to living on her own again. She was thrilled, and while I was a bit nervous, I was also happy for her and myself because I needed some surgery that I had been putting off while caring for her.
I had tendon repair surgery at the beginning of August, but it wasn't a normal tendon repair, nope, the tendon in my foot split down the center so when I had initally seen the doctor in late August or early September 2024 and was asked if I heard a POP, which I replied a no too, I was told it was tendonitis, It was not. I knew it, and so did my physical therapist. I couldn't walk without a brace, so I went back to see another doctor and was told again it was just tendonitis and to do more PT. I didn't have X-rays taken or any scans until the third doctor, and he was pissed that they weren't done before. The reason I didn't hear a pop is that the tendon didn't pop; it split right down the center, dropped my arch, AND dislocated my ankle, which is why I had trouble walking without a brace. He wanted to do surgery right away, but I had just started caring for my mom, so it had to wait. And while we waited, it slowly got worse. I won't go into detail on what had to be done, but I will probably never walk correctly again, and I will always need to have some form of a brace on, all because scans weren't taken the first time I went to the doctors. You know your body, advocate for yourself, if I didn't change doctors who knows what my foot and ankle would look like today. I spent two months on bed rest in a soft cast, I switched to a boot, and physical therapy started. Today I am in a brace and a sneaker, and I am still doing physical therapy. I have had a couple of falls, and I'm unsteady when walking at times, sooooo, I still have a long road ahead of me before I finish with PT, and like I mentioned before, I will always have to wear a brace now.
On top of all that, I have been sick a few times, and there have been some family things going on, so it hasn't left me with much time to do much of anything. I did a ton of binge watching, reading, and sleeping, which is something I don't normally do. I'm hoping to get back to posting on the regular ASAP, because I have read a ton and have a lot of books to talk about. Oh an here's a real kick in the gut. I woke up yesterday morning to seeing all of my reviews on Amazon GONE...POOF! They just disappeared, no email from The 'Zon saying I broke one of their zillion guidelines, nothing, 9+ years of ARC reviews plus an additional 5+years of book reviews and product reviews prior to starting my blog. That's 15 years of reviewing all types of things, over 3,000 reviews just gone. 🤬 I reached out to Customer Service and was told they would look into it, but didn't have an answer. Needless to say, I'm sick to my stomach over this. How do I recover from losing all of that hard work from Amazon? Yes, my reviews are posted elsewhere, but everyone I work with asks for reviews to be posted on Amazon, and now they're just gone. I was told it will take up to three days to hear back from them. It could be a glitch or something else; only time will tell. In the meantime, I'll be here worrying about everything. 😭

This trilogy is one you'll want on your bookshelves; it's gorgeous. When Laurelin Paige did her Kickstarter, she went all out. Each of these books is finished in a matte with gold foil-stamped lettering and hand-drawn flowers on the covers. Inside, you will find Silk laminate pages, annotations, Drink Recipes, and each book is signed by the author.
