“I want what you’re offering, Brick,” Les said. “I don’t know all of what that means, but enough of me does to take the first steps toward it. I trust you enough to do that. I just need to know what you expect of me, how I can be that for you.”

“And for yourself,” he added. “That’s also pretty damn important. I can help you with that. For now, stand just like this. Don’t move.”

He cupped the side of her neck. One large finger slowly slid behind the shell of her ear, along her neck, beneath the lobe. A touch like that said a man wanted to know a woman, learn her. Use those little gestures to find where her heart was, her soul, the center of what aroused and sheltered her. It reinforced what she felt.

She could give him her trust.

“What’s your safeword, Les?”

She couldn’t think, and looked to him in desperation.

“You can choose your own later. For now, it’s my given name. Jefferson. Do you understand?”

“Yes, Sir.”

He shifted his hand to a full grip of her throat. It was startling, the shift from gentleness to inexorable pressure. "Feel your pulse against my grip. Look into my eyes as I hold you this way, feel what it does to you. Focus on me and what I want from you. Feel your response to that build, like your whole body, heart and soul are answering that demand.”

As he maintained that still, stronger-than-firm grip, sensation speared through her, impaling her and holding her fast. He was doing nothing but staring at her face, holding her throat, but as the seconds passed, her body became rigid with arousal, paralyzed by the force of her response. She honestly couldn’t move under the demand of his hold. A tiny gasp came from her, a little moan.

Flame flared amid the gray smoke of his eyes. “Yeah, baby. There you are. You know your Master.”

A whole civilized world vanished, leaving the two of them, her soul agreeing and surrendering to his with a painful surge of relief. Someone who knew her, who understood her. She didn’t have to question that knowledge, because he was demonstrating so well what she’d needed and wanted for so long, but been afraid to grasp.

Except with him.

I finished this book a little over a week ago, but I am undecided on how to write my review. This isn't a new situation, but it doesn't happen often. You see, this story had a new (for me) BDSM kink in it, and I was and still am mesmerized by it. Fire Kink has been glossed over as a background scene in a book or two, but I have never read a book that focused on it until now, and WOW, not only was it HOT, but it was sensual more than sexy, which surprised me. So do I concentrate on that, or do I focus on the love story of a Childhood crush that finally comes to fruition? Well, I'll continue to write, and we'll see how it goes. 

Jefferson “Brick” McGuire has been the object of Les Wilder's dreams since she was a little girl, and he began hanging out at her house because he was best friends with her brother. Now, Les is a third-year medical student, and Brick is an Arson Investigator. Their paths had recently crossed at Les' brother's wedding, and she still felt that connection to him that she always had. What she didn't know was that Brick had the same feelings. 

When something devastating happens at the hospital where Les is working she doesn't know how to handle it, so she takes off and heads straight to Bricks door. She is expecting one thing, and one thing only when she gets there, but what she gets is so much more than she could have ever hoped for. I loved the chemistry between Brick and Les and how he cared for her, knowing exactly what she needed was perfection.

When Brick introduces Les to fire play, it is a thing of beauty, mesmerizing, and sensual. As I mentioned earlier, I have never read a book where it was the main focus, and I  was amazed at how much I enjoyed it. Very Hot scenes, and I was shocked about how Sensual it was; it didn't feel the same as impact play does, if that makes sense.

Joey W. Hill did a fabulous job crafting two characters that readers will fall in love with right from the beginning, Les will draw you in with her big heart, and Brick will draw you in with his firm touch, soothing voice, and magical hands.

I recommend this book to readers who enjoy STEAMY Contemporary Romances, BDSM Romances, Siblings Best Friend Romances, Firefighter Romances, or Childhood Crush Romances.
